[Anaesthesiology] Cannot intubate, cannot oxygenate

Emergency situation
  1. A patient needs airway protection, but intratracheal intubation fails
  2. The next option is to insert a supraglottic airway device and attempt ventilation. If SAD ventilation fails, declare failed SAD ventilation.
  3. Face mask ventilation should be attempted. If face mask ventilation fails, declare CICO (can't intubate, can't oxygenate).
  4. The last resort is a cricothyrotomy. Emergency access to the front of the neck must be obtained and cricothyrotomy should be attempted.
