Benzodiazepines depress the CNS.
In overdose, the GCS and respiratory rate fall.

 

Management

• Medical therapy
• The reversal agent is flumazenil, a GABA_A antagonist (blocker) which counteracts benzodiazepines by competitive inhibition.
• Airway management
• Tracheal intubation
• Mechanical ventilation
