Physiology



Pathophysiology

  • Hypoparathyroidism is a pathological state caused by blood PTH levels lower than the reference range. 
    This leads to insufficient osteoclast inactivity.
    There is insufficient bone resorption. There may be hypocalcaemia.

Causes

  • Damage to the parathyroid glands during surgery.
  • Parathyroidectomy
