[Paediatrics] Medical history

Paediatric histories are often challenging because the younger the patient is, the worse their communication capabilities are.

Stranger anxiety

Typical child development includes a phase of stranger anxiety, which usually emerges at 6 months and increases until it resolves at 12 months. In some children it lasts until 24 months. Children in this phase are likely to hide or cry when medical staff approach them.

Key points

It is important to remember some parts of the obstetrics/gynaecology history.
