National Early Warning Score
This is a medical score which can be calculated from 7 physiological parameters.In the NHS, nurses make regular observations of patients and record biometric data. Computer software can calculate the NEWS score from this data.
Trends in NEWS recordings can provide information about the recovery or deterioration of patients.

- Respiration rate
- SpO2
- Inspired gas: Room air or oxygen gas
- Systolic blood pressure
- Heart rate
- Consciousness (Alert or CVPU)
- Temperature
