This refers to pathological levels of libido and sexual behaviour. These patients often behave in a manner which is charismatic, flattering, seductive, flirtatious, or sexually aggressive.
Causes
- Bipolar disorder (usually in hypomania, mania)
- Emotionally unstable (borderline) personality disorder
- Alzheimer's disease
- Frontotemporal dementia
- Pick's disease
- Recreational drug use
- Iatrogenic
- Medications for Parkinson's disease
Risks
- Vulnerability to exploitation
- Increased chance of committing sexual offences, ranging from harrassment to rape
- Contraction of sexually transmitted infections
- Transmission of sexually transmitted infections
- Damaging interpersonal relationships (inappropriate behaviour, infidelity, etc.)
