Anti-Neutrophil Cytoplasmic Antibody

Also known as ANCA.
There are two major patterns: pANCA and cANCA.

This is a test for an antibody (immunoglobulin) in the serum. 

 

Clinical indications:

• Rapidly progressive glomerulonephritis
• Pulmonary haemorrhage
• Small vessel vasculitis
• Granulomatosis with polyangiitis
• Microscopic polyangiitis 
• Eosinophilic granulomatosis with polyangiitis

 

Profile:

• Anti Myeloperoxidase antibody (MPO) and anti-Proteinase 3 antibody (PR3) if ANCA positive.
