Also known as thiamine.
Clinical indications:
- Diagnosis and assessment of Vitamin B1 deficiency or overdose.
- Usually Vitamin B1 replacement is prescribed without measuring blood levels of B1. Therefore, the circumstances which could necessitate this test are very unlikely. The test is not routinely available in most hospitals, and it would require discussion with the Duty Biochemist.
