NHL is a large group of diseases which are differentiated from Hodgkin lymphoma.
Types
B-cell lymphoma (~88% of NHLs)
- Diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) (~31% of NHLs)
- Follicular lymphoma (FL) (~22% of NHLs)
- Extra-nodal marginal zone B-cell lymphoma (also called MALT lymphoma)
- Mantle cell lymphoma
- Burkitt lymphoma
- Primary mediastinal large B-cell lymphoma
- Nodal marginal zone B-cell lymphoma
- Splenic marginal zone lymphoma
- Small lymphocytic lymphoma
- Lymphoplasmacytic lymphoma (Waldenström’s macroglobulinaemia)
T-cell lymphoma (~12% of NHLs)
- Peripheral T-cell lymphoma
- Cutaneous (Skin) lymphomas
- Mycosis fungoides
- Sézary syndrome
- Anaplastic large cell lymphoma
- Angioimmunoblastic lymphoma
- Lymphoblastic lymphomas
- T-cell
- B-cell
Epidemiology
- NHL is the 6th most common cancer type in the UK.
- NHL accounts for 4% of new cancer cases in the UK each year.
- About 80% of all diagnosed lymphomas are NHL.
