  • 460 BCE : Born in Kos, Greece.
  • 370 BCE : Died in Larissa, Greece (aged ~90).

  • The Hippocratic Corpus. A collection of works accredited to him, although the authorship of each piece is not known for certain.

 

Significance in history

  • Taught and influenced many great physicians
  • First to describe many diseases, including cancer
  • Discovery of many classic medical signs 
  • Promoted lifestyle medicine
