[Cardiothoracic surgery] Introduction

Cardiothoracic surgeons specialise in diseases of the heart, lungs, and thoracic cavity.
There is significant overlap with cardiology and pulmonology.

 

Etymology

Ancient Greek καρδίᾱ (kardiā) = heart

Ancient Greek θώραξ (thṓrax) = thorax
Ancient Greek θωρακικός (thōrakikós) = of the thorax
