Voltage gated Ca2+ Antibodies

This is a test for a group of antibodies (immunoglobulin) in the serum. 

Clinical indications:

The assay is positive in

• Approximately 85% of patients with Lambert Eaton myasthenic syndrome (with or without SCLC)
• About 30% of Cerebellar ataxia with SCLC
• In a few cases with small cell lung cancer without myasthenic symptoms (in low titre). This is because small cell lung cancers express this voltage gated calcium channel.
